Come find out. Upcoming Events:WHERE? Asbury U.M.C. Meet in the Chapel at 6:00 P.M. for opening worship We will be outside in the Breezeway until 7:00AM WHY? To have a “homeless” experience for a single night. To raise awareness about homelessness in our world. To raise money for our mission fund. To raise money for other projects such as our new Youth Facility. HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED? Participate in “Homeless For A Night” and get people to sponsor you Join us at 6:00 P.M. in the Chapel on Friday, February 26th for worship Sponsor a youth with words of encouragement and a solid financial pledge Pray for the homeless, suffering, starving, and war-tarried people in this world
A NOTE TO PARTICIPANTS! When you woke up this morning, 100,000 children in this country alone woke up without a roof over their head. It is hard for many of us to imagine what that might be like. We will experience such a feeling for one night. You will be given one blanket and one box. It is going to be a cold but blessed night. You will need to dress for the weather. We will be under the stars with no roof over our heads. This will be a great experience to help us open our eyes to see the need that is all around us. Make sure that you bring clothes that you do not care to get dirty or possibly ruin and a blanket. Do not bring any artificial forms of heat (hothands, electric blankets, etc.) Do not pack any junk food and drinks. We will sleep out for 14 hours, or until you cannot bear the cold any longer. There is no cost to this event, but we EXPECT you to get pledges from friends, neighbors, family members, or church members. PLEASE BRING YOUR SPONSOR FORM with you. If someone sponsors you $5.00 per hour, and you sleep out 10 of 14 hours, that person will give you a $50 donation. The person with the most sponsors (a sponsor being considered someone who donates at least $1 per hour) and the person who raises the most money will receive 50% scholarships for the mission trips next summer. What are our goals? Each participant will acquire AT LEAST 3 sponsors. We are aiming to raise $4,000.00 from “Homeless for a Night.” Jesus calls us to care for the homeless……let’s do it! And let us be reminded that Jesus considered himself to be homeless as well! A NOTE TO PARENTS Do not bring us anything (food, drinks, blankets, etc.) unless instructed to do so by the Youth Director. Please come and participate in this mission project. Leave your cell phones off or at home. If they are seen, they will be confiscated until the next morning. Feb 12 No Youth... Go home and get some rest:)
Speaker: Justin Lookadoo Special Guest: Tim Byrne Location: Viking Hall Civic Center in Bristol, TN Who is invited: All youth, youth workers, and parents
Pledge 2 Purity is an annual event for teenagers (grades 6-12), parents and Youth Workers. It's purpose is to promote and encourage commitments among teenagers to live a life of physical, mental and spiritual purity; to raise awareness of purity issues for parents and to promote open dialogue and accountability between them and their students regarding purity; and to encourage and equip Youth Workers in their efforts to teach their teenagers about the importance of purity. The event is also designed to help connect teens and their parents to regional ministries, churches and resources that provide services and encouragement to support their pledge to purity. Pledge 2 Purity is a collaborative effort among Christian ministries that serve teens and their parents in our region.

About the Director My name is Michael Mould and I am happily married to my wife, Sarah. We have one son named Mason. We lived in Texas for about 3 years while I was in school at Dallas Theological Seminary. We enjoyed all that Richardson and Dallas have to offer, though we missed the beautiful mountains of eastern Tennessee. In years past, I have been a director of youth ministries in Tennessee as well as an intern and counselor at a local Christian camp. I was a worship leader for many years while still in college at one of the campus ministries. I enjoy playing the guitar, singing, and writing music. My wife and I love the outdoors, and to us there is nothing like the smell of a good campfire. We both love Christ with everything that is in us, and we desire to know Him more and more each day. God has placed me in the wonderful position as Director of Student Ministries at Asbury United Methodist Church in Greeeneville Tennessee. I am so excited to see what God is going to do this year in all of our lives. It is my desire to nurture the faith and community of the young adults in Asbury so that there will be strong leadership both now and in the future. God wants His people to know Him and to tell others about Him through how they live their lives as well as what they say. This is the sign of true life change, and that is what life is all about. Through relationships, we can show the community of Greeneville who we believe in and why, using our lives and friendships as a conduit for ministry. Then when the opportunity arises, we can use our words to explain ourselves. Paul urges us to live a life that is worthy of the calling that you have received (Ephesians 4:1). This means that our actions as well as our words should be those of the sons and daughters of the Most High God. Our desire is to show the love of Christ to the World. If you are changed, driven, and sold out for God in every aspect of your life, you can change the world. Contact InformationMichael Mould |
